About the Piece
There’s nothing quite like climbing 1048 steps and being 1200 feet above sea level with an amazing view of East Oahu. However, it’s the view from the bottom that I find the most inspiring. The goal rises sharply in front of you. I feel the red heat as I take each step upward, but I’m elated when I reach the top. The descent is cool; like the blue ocean below. Together, the red and blue combine into a magnificent purple path. Orange, yellow, and green flank the trail in vivid technicolor. Euphoria arrives! Now, it’s your turn to climb.
About the Artist
Born in VA and raised in CA, Joe Lynch is a graduate from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Architecture. After school, Joe moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked on historic residential projects for the Army and the Navy and also in the tasting room of Barboursville Vineyards where he developed a passion for wine and the places it’s created. In 2011, an unexpected opportunity brought Joe to Honolulu, where he continued exploring his passions by volunteering with the Historic Hawaii Foundation and studying travel sketching at the Honolulu Museum of Art. One of Joe’s paintings honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Hawaii State Capitol Building was selected for the Hawaii Watercolor Society’s Spring 2019 show. Joe has also continued developing his knowledge of wine by passing the Court of Master Sommelier’s level 1 exam, earning certificates in viticulture and enology, and through travel to some of the world’s most exciting regions. Building upon his love of history, tradition, wine, and architecture, Joe aims to help clients capture the places of their memories and experiences. Joe’s style combines the excitement of todays modern urban sketcher with the traditional hand of an architect.
