About the Piece
This painting portraits the centennial commemoration of the Hawaiian throne Usurpation of 1893. Hundreds of Hawaiians met on the ground of Iolani Palace to commemorate it with chants, dances, and speeches. I was attending it, and painted it right on location the very same day of the commemoration.
