About the Piece
Recently restored, the Bridle Path Bridge at Ala Moana Park was a feature in Harry Sims Bent’s Depression-era Art Deco park design, originally intended as a thoroughfare for equestrians. Wouldn’t it be neat to see someone ride a horse over it? This drawing predates the restoration work.
About the Artist
Historic sites are like soil cores: individually, they describe the goings-on of a particular place; collectively, they contribute to a larger narrative describing both spatial and temporal change throughout a landscape. Historic sites connect us to stories that may otherwise be forgotten. They bring to life our heritage in a tangible way that words on a page may not. As a visual storyteller, Kim sees historic preservation as the preservation of access to good stories.
