About the Artist
John Okita is a retired architect in the State of Hawaii. John was educated in Hawaii and on the mainland at Washington University St. Louis, Missouri. John returned home to garner a Masters of Architecture and a Doctorate of Architecture Degrees from the University of Hawaii. Later, John was fortunate to experience the employment at Vladimir Ossipoff, FAIA and John Hara FAIA, 2 renown design legends of Hawaii. John’s affinity to painting is a recent activity. In 2017, a client had a large wall and needed to fill it with art. John, innocently, offered to create a painting to fill the void. That offer created a stressful sequence of events to prove his worthiness and that jump started a hobby that required hours of art education and media technique research. John continues to paint and to learn.
