About the Piece

The Chinese Courtyard is to the left as you enter the Honolulu Museum of Art. There is a stepping pond in the center of the courtyard. I am a Docent at HoMA and seeing the children have so much fun jumping over the the water to the next paving stone must to be the highlight for them! The red backdrop and the lion’s head are the focal points. They both really draw you into the courtyard! I love the deep colors in this courtyard which drew me to painting this HoMA beauty!

About the Artist

I have been making art for as long as can remember and watercolor has always been my favorite media. I love the way it flows on the paper and if you let it go….it shares in the creative process of your painting. Through the years I have learned from many of the best watercolor artists and instructors at the Honolulu Museum of Art School!
